Allen Stout, "Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Give careful thought to your ways.'" Haggai 1:5 (NIV)
My parents lived through the Great Depression and gave me good, very conservative financial counsel as I grew up. However, I ignored their advice thinking, "I don't want to scrimp and save like that! I want to have fun!" I realized later that it is possible to be wise about finances and have fun too! Haggai 1:6 says: "You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it." (NIV) This passage describes my former financial philosophy, or lack thereof, and verse 5 helped point me to an exciting approach, based on Biblical principles. Haggai repeats verse 5 in verse 7 to emphasize the point: "This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways." (NIV) I look forward to meeting you and visiting with you, to explain how a good financial plan can brighten your present and future. It takes resolve, some work to dig up the details, and timely checkups to make sure you stay on course! The result is a comprehensive plan, tailored to fit your unique needs. |
